These are some great commercial deals that I’ve found atm. It would be hard to buy the materials to fabricate them for these prices. These are great deals, and the VAWT comes with a charge controller! The plans are reviewed below.

If you’re looking for a simple approach that doesn’t cost a lot to set up, then these plans are great. If you’re looking for a wind generator system that’s already built for you, then click on the images above. Those are great price per watt systems.

The DIY wind generator plans below show you how to put up an entire wind generator system on a shoestring budget. They also hold a lot of “going green” tips, from people who live off of the grid.

If you’re completely new to wind energy and want to know if wind energy will work for you, I highly recommend Hugh Piggots book.

*Updated 7/9/2011*

If you’ve seen other wind generator projects online that have complete setups for generating, storing and using charge controllers for wind powered systems, it was this guide. It’s popular because it’s the same price as similar guides yet there is awesome support for the projects. They simply want you to succeed with your wind power system. There’s plenty of step by step tutorials and illustrations, along with videos of how to set up a system from scratch. You also get support contact information that actually gets answered. This is a great current guide for producing ample electricity.

*Update 1/07/10*

With the addition of the video tutorials, and improved support, these wind generator plans have improved.

Earth4Energy has a great looking front page, and you would think that this guide has everything that you would want to get off the grid… The biggest let down is there is no customer support. This guide does work, and it’s full of great illustrations with step by step guides, followed by video instructions. The guide on how to get deep cycle batteries is worth more than 5x this guides cost, but you can get the same information at Build a Wind Generator for half the price. What I didn’t like, besides lack of customer support, was the forum and the product freebies.

Review:

This guide has a lot of information and safety tips. This guide is full of videos and illustrations. This is a straight forward guide and you get what they say you’ll get. This guide is more for solar power than wind generators. There is nothing misleading, it just lacks the information on how to get discount materials for wind generators, but it’s excellent for solar power. This ups the cost of implementing DIY electricity, other than that this is a decent guide. A lot of the details necessary to complete a wind generator system are left out, and the guide is not as detailed as Build a Wind Generator.

Energy 2 Green contains a lot of the renewable energy industry information. They could have spent less time explaining the renewable energy industry and more time on how to implement their systems. The content was light and there were no videos. There were illustrated guides, but if your going to spend $49.95 on a guide, you’d be better off purchasing one of the above guides. Their systems do work, but there could have been less fluff and more how to. You’ll get the best bang for your buck elsewhere, , but still it comes with a money back guarantee, like all of the products reviewed.
